There were 112 new coronavirus cases reported in Monterey County today, more than double the 43 new COVID-19 cases announced yesterday.  This brings the total to 41,787, with two new deaths reported.  Nationally, the numbers are better.  There were only 71,784 new cases reported, for a cume total of 27.9 million cases.  There were 2,463 deaths, for a total of 494,051.  In California, there were 8,158 new cases for a total of 3.5 million, with 412 new deaths.  That makes for a grand total of 48,421 deaths in our state.  On a positive note, California’s positivity rate had dropped dramatically,  from 11% a month ago to just 3.5%.  Hospitalizations in our state have also dropped significantly, going down 38% over the past two weeks.

Coronavirus cases continue to slow, both in Monterey County and across the country.  There were 52 new COVID-19 cases announced for Monterey County, bringing the total up to 41,632 and one new death was reported.  Nationwide, there were 64,376 new cases for a cume total of 227.761 million, with 2,367 deaths for a total of 489,121.  In California, there were 8,024 new cases for a cume total of 3.5 million, while deaths rose by 418 to 47,563.  Please stay home and stay safe.

There were 239 new COVID-19 cases announced for Monterey County over the past three days, bringing the total up to 41,580 and two new deaths were reported.  Unfortunately, Monterey County is doing much worse than every state, and much worse than Santa Cruz County.  In Monterey, we have administered 11K per 100K of the population versus 14,700 for all of California and compared to 19,736 in Santa Cruz County. Nationwide, there were only 56K new cases (they were running at more than 100K/day a few weeks ago).  That makes a total of 27.7 million.  The number of new cases is at a low not since October.  Last month, infections topped 200K per day.  Deaths rose by 1,272 to 487K.  In California, there were 5,463 new cases for a total of 3.5 million, while deaths rose by 90 to 47,145.  Please stay home and stay safe.

Monterey, CA Coronavirus Update From A Carmel Caregiver : CA Surpasses NY In The Number Of COVID-19 Deaths

There were 95 new COVID-19 cases announced for Monterey County, bringing the total up to 41,341 and four new deaths were reported.  Nationwide, new cases dropped below 100K again with 99,565 reported today.  That makes a total of 27.492 million.  Deaths rose by 5,124, which is more than 3x the 1,541 reported yesterday.  That brings the total to 481,640.  In California, the number of deaths edged past the number in the State of New York for the first time.  In California, there were 7,178 new cases for a total of 3.471 million while deaths rose by 433 to 46,547.  Please stay home and stay safe.

There were 170 new COVID-19 cases announced for Monterey County, bringing the total up to 41,246 and two new deaths were reported.  Nationwide, after three days straight with new cases totaling less than 100K, 105,600 were reported today.  That makes a total of 27.393 million.  Deaths rose by 1,541 to 476,516.  In California, there were 7,603 new cases for a total of 3.463 million, while deaths rose by 378 to 41,276.  Unfortunately, a new study by Lancet Commission said that 40% of deaths in the U.S. could have been prevented if we would have taken stronger measures to combat it.  Please stay home and stay safe.

There were 376 new COVID-19 cases announced for Monterey County, bringing the total up to 40,908 and two new deaths.  Nationwide, the number of cases are going down.  There were 92,739 new cases, for a total of 27.096 million.  Deaths rose by 4,006 to 466,625.  In California, there were a hefty 26,660 new cases for a total of 3.433 million, while deaths rose by 544 to 40,908.  Please stay home and stay safe.

There were 69 new COVID-19 cases announced for Monterey County, bringing the total up to 40,532 and one new death.  Unfortunately, we are starting to see more and more post-COVID-19 recovery problems.  In a recent survey in the Journal Circulation, the American Heart Association predicted a surge of cardiovascular deaths and disease in the months and years to come.  “We don’t have a lot of well-vetted data up to the minute on the cardiovascular impact of COVID because we are living through the pandemic now,†said Dr. Mitch Elkind, president of the AHA and a professor of neurology and epidemiology at Columbia University.  Nationwide, there were 129,592 new cases, for a total of 26.898 million.  Deaths rose by 3,663 to 460,849.  In California, there were 11,061 new cases for a total of 3.395 million, while deaths rose by 446 to 43,631.  Please stay home and stay safe.

There were 226 new COVID-19 cases announced for Monterey County, bringing the total up to 40,463 and two new deaths.  Nationwide, there were 126,842 new cases, for a total of 26.642 million.  Deaths rose by 3,221 to 475,186.  In California, there were 15,132 new cases for a total of 3.384 million, while deaths rose by 702 to 43,185.  Please stay home and stay safe.

There were 133 new COVID-19 cases announced for Monterey County, bringing the total up to 40,237.  In the early stages of the pandemic, Monterey was faring much better than the rest of the country.  That’s not true anymore.  8.14% of the U.S. population has contracted COVID-19 versus 8.51% of Californians and 9.27% of Monterey County residents.  That translates to Monterey over-indexing the country by 5% and 9% of California.  The death rate, as a percentage of coronavirus diagnoses, now stands at 1.7%.  Nationwide, there were 119,014 new cases, for a total of 26.642 million.  Deaths rose by 5,206 (more than double the reported 2,198 from the day prior) to 453,965.  In California, there were 12,516 new cases for a total of 3.369 million, while deaths rose by 566 to 42,483.  Please stay home and stay safe.
