Researchers have had success doing brain implants on those who are paralyzed.  Brain activity is collected by sensors in the brain allowing a computer to convert the brain activity into a mouse click or zoom in on something on the computer screen.  There are an estimated 500K people suffering from spinal-cord injuries or who have partial mobility due to suffering a stroke.  And with COVID-19 causing some serious side effects even after an apparent recovery, new uses may be found for this type of surgery.

TX) would boost the age for required minimum distributions (RMDs) from IRAs and 401 (k) accounts to 75, from 72.  It applies to those born after June 30, 1949.  It would also waive RMDs entirely who have a cume total of less than $100K.

Cancer Screening Is Not Just For Seniors

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force is now recommending lowering the recommended age for colon and rectal cancer screening from age 50 to age 45.  Colorectal cancer recently took the life of “Black Panther†movie star Chadwick Boseman.  He was just 43.  Under the Affordable Care Act, most health insurers would be required to cover the additional screening after the recommendation becomes final, following a one month public comment period.

Carmel, CA Diabetes Tip : Try Carbohydrate Counting

If you have diabetes, counting your carbohydrate intake can be good for your health.  This includes both meals and snacks.  Compared with protein and fat, carbs have the greatest impact on the glucose level of diabetics.  By counting carbs, you can more accurately dose mealtime insulin and hopefully keep your blood glucose level stable.
