Nearly 25K nursing home residents have died from COVID-19 since June 1, and a total of 83,000 during the pandemic, throwing our system of housing seniors in crowded facilities is broken. With the flu season on the way and another wave of a mutated coronavirus on the way, something needs to be done. In our own backyard, at the Watsonville Acute Post Center, more than 60 residents and employees have tested positive, two have died and a third death is under investigation.
